I would hardly call myself a wine snob. Perhaps a wine enthusiast in training: I have certain likes, but don't know one vineyard from another, or what year is more desirable for some particular variety etc. Generally I prefer drier wines, both red and white. Some sweetness is ok, but overly sweet is bleh to me.

That said, I had the chance to taste a red that I'd never even heard of until a few days ago: a Malbec. Homemade, even, by a local crafter. I have to say I rather enjoyed it. It's hearty, and robust but not overly acidic. Sadly, we've polished off the entire bottle over the last two days, but I now have something to seek out on future shopping trips.
