Emotional game impact
Nov. 5th, 2017 06:33 pmI ended up finishing Ori and the Blind Forest last night, and I'm not going to lie, the ending made me tear up a little. Granted, over the past few years, rather a lot of things have. I never cried much, if at all, as a child. Kept it all hidden away. It was safer. Never let the bullies see you cry, that just makes it 10 times worse. But now, I guess I'm making up for lost time, because the Bioshock games got me, the ending to Half-Life 2, Episode 2 (curse you Valve, learn to count to 3! Oh, who am I kidding, you never will) Some commercials, especially the infamous Sarah McLachlan ASPCA ones, etc. Blah.
So, my choice for the next game to sit and curse at the screen is the first Witcher, Enhanced Edition. Let's see if this gets me all teary or not.
Great game, Ori was, I highly recommend it, especially if you dig platformers, like I do. I played the Definitive Edition, which had a few added skills and areas.
